CONNECTING COMMUNITIES, SUSTAINING VITALITY

Land, water, and forest resources in the Mekong Subregion, including Vietnam, are rapidly depleting, exacerbating climate change and threatening the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people, particularly those living in rural areas.

The Resource Governance – Greater Mekong Subregion website has been developed and is operated by members of Forest Trends, with a focus on sharing information, experiences, and initiatives in resource governance. We aim to connect communities, promote sustainable solutions, protect nature and secure livelihoods for people across the region.

Nations worldwide have reached a consensus that to achieve the 2°C target outlined in the Paris Agreement, global emissions must be cut by 28% by 2030. Carbon markets—both voluntary (driven by the voluntary trade of carbon credits) and mandatory (regulated under the UNFCCC framework)—play a pivotal role in driving these emission reductions.
