FOREST Talk & Link: Wood consumption, climate change and the need to not cause deforestation

FOREST TALK & LINK is a program organized by the City Construction Wood Association. Ho Chi Minh City (SAWA) and Forest Trends jointly organized, taking place on the afternoon of January 29, 2025 at 28 Thao Dien, City. Ho Chi Minh. The program is sponsored and accompanied by the City Green Business Association. Ho Chi Minh City (HGBA), UK Aid, Norway's International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), Institute of Construction Materials (VIBM) and Creative Arts Institute of Landscape Architecture (LAA.I).

Location: 28 Thao Dien, An Khanh, City. Ho Chi Minh

The program is a thematic dialogue space, bringing together representatives of the wood industry, research institutes, wood industry businesses and architects to discuss wood consumption trends in the context of climate change and increasingly clear market requirements for a supply chain that does not cause deforestation.

Through multi-dimensional sharing and discussion, FOREST TALK & LINK aims to clarify how market changes are impacting the wood supply chain, material selection in construction and industry development directions, as well as the implications related to plantation forests, livelihoods and sustainable development.

The program also opens up exchanges on design, technical standards and construction practices, which play an important role in transforming market and policy requirements into concrete solutions in practice.

  • Construction wood standards and the role of technical frameworks in the green transition process
  • Multi-party discussion between management agencies, experts, businesses and the practicing community

17:30 – 17:40: MOU signing ceremony between SAWA and the Institute of Construction Materials (VIBM)

17:40 – 19:30: Forest Link dinner party
