In the context of Vietnam developing its carbon market and finalizing the policy framework for forest carbon services, many localities, enterprises, and organizations are asking: “What kinds of expertise and experience are required, and at which stages, to develop a forest carbon project?”

Webinar “Developing Forest Carbon Projects: required capacities and experiences for certain types of projects" will address this question and provide stakeholders with a clearer understanding of the expertise and experience needed to implement forest carbon projects across all stages—from concept development, pre-feasibility assessment, and preparation of the Project Design Document (PDD) to validation, verification, and issuance of carbon credits. The speaker will discuss the essential technical groups (forestry, remote sensing–GIS, carbon and markets, environmental–social safeguards, legal and contracting, finance, etc.), how these expert groups work together in practice, as well as common challenges encountered during the development of forest carbon projects.

Through this discussion, participants will gain a clearer picture of human resource requirements for forest carbon projects from the speakers’ perspectives and experience. This will help stakeholders identify the roles of different actors, determine capacity-building needs, and better prepare for emerging trends in forest carbon projects in the coming period.
