Vietnam exported nearly 6.6 million tons of wood pellets, earning 962.2 million USD in the first 10 months of 2025, an increase of 34.8% in volume and 48.5% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The export value of this product accounted for 7.2% of the total export turnover of the timber industry. The year 2025 witnessed a strong increase in wood pellet export turnover in both volume and value, despite some difficulties regarding raw material sources.
To promote cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises in the field of wood pellet production and trade, as well as to share and update on market conditions and legal regulations for wood pellet products in both countries, Forest Trends, in collaboration with the Vietnam Wood Pellet Association (under the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association – VIFOREST) and the Japan Biomass Power Association (BPA), jointly organized the Technical Exchange: Promoting Sustainable Wood Pellet Trade Development between Vietnam and Japan.
